HELP! Camera + Chocolate Milkshake = NOOOO!?

So, it all happened when i was in town. My sister bought a galaxy milkshake and she didnt screw the lid on properly. she put it in the carrier bag with my digital samsung 10mp camera in.

the carrier bag had a hole in it and my leg kept getting wet and i was like where the hell is this coming from? then i looked in the bag and it was full of chocolate milkshake!

i pulled out my camera and i was livid!! i legged it too the toilet and cleaned the milkshake off, then tried to turn it on..
it didnt work.. then i tried it again.. and the light came on and the camera lense came out.

then i realised i shouldnt have turned it on cos it craps it up even more.

it started to get some condensation inside the camera screen..

i've left it to dry out but it still wont turn on..

i changed the batteries i was using and managed to get a red light on the front on!


any help!!! PLEASE!

I ONLY GOT THIS CAMERA AT CHRISTMAS!! :(

MAYBE you can take it back to the store you got it at with the reciept and they might replace it....thats what i did, i broke the lcd screen and they gave me a whole new camera.

Sorry to say, it is time for a new camera.

Getting milkshake onto it combined with being submerged, there's very little you can do with any degree of certainty to fix it.

At this point, there's NO chance at all the manufacturer's warranty will cover it. Ever. Water damage is easy to diagnose. This is just to clean and dry the camera. If there were any shorts from being submerged, parts of the motherboard could have shorted amongst other possibilities. If you get this repaired, it will cost less to buy a new camera. No doubt at all about that.

Next time, get something a little more shock and water proof, and carry the camera with you at all times.

Edit: I'm sorry you just got the camera... I'm still afraid this one is busted up beyond economical repair.

Give your pride and joy, your prized possession, your companion a decent burial and begin shopping for its replacement.

Don't be mean to your sister. Ask her to help pay for your new camera. Buy a good protective case for your new camera.

Perhaps you should consider a camera from the Olympus Stylus SW series since they are water proof and shock proof to a five foot drop.
