Broken zoom button on camera?

I have a Sanyo 5.0 megapixel digital camera and the zoom button is broken. The button feels very loose and won't zoom. It has a small hairline crack on the side, I am wondering if this is repairable? (Either by myself or at a camera shop?). My boyfriend bought it for me for Christmas and I feel horrible about it not working right.

Buy a new One!
