My Sanyo camera keeps saying it has lens errors?

when i turn it on when its in camera mode it turns off automaticly w.o showing the screen. if i go 2 playback it turns on but it says lens error 25 and lens error 13 and others. if i try 2 watch a video it makes scratchy sounds. when i turn it off the lens doesnt go bak in. any idea whats wrong? o and i did once drop it on the ground...so whenever i turned it on, when the lens moved it made a weird sound but other than tht it worked fine till now

Assuming you didn't damage the camera, return it immediately to the store where it was purchased and ask for a replacement camera telling them you got it as a present and it didn't work. They will hopefully offer to either replace or repair it. If you have the receipt then bring it because it may sway them to simply replace it with a new one.

Keep in mind that if there is any evidence of damage you'll likely get not get it replaced or even repaired for free.

If you did damage it by dropping it or handling it roughly then you should do the right thing and have it fixed and pay for it (assuming it's not too expensive) or buy another one.

If the 2nd situation is the case then consider it a valuable lesson learned. Camera's need to be treated gently and with alot of care.

That means that the zoom geartrain broke and its time for a new camera.

Nikon compact digital cameras are made by Sanyo and have the same problem. Since you recently got it you could probably get a new one or fixed under warranty. You better act QUICKLY if it only has a 3 month warranty.
