Batteries for Digital Camera? |
Okay, I bought a fairly cheap digital camera it's a Sanyo VPC-5500. Anyway the batteries that came in it are Duracell Ultras size AA. Well eventually they died like all batteries do and I tried to put in regular AA batteries but it rejects all of them and they are good batteries. Alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in a digital camera. Some may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Walmart sells these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may slap yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah. This is going to sound retarded but first make sure that you have the right batteries (AA's, AAA's). When I got my first ditigal camera a couple of years ago I found that regular batteries only had a enough jucie for 5-10 pictures. The case might be that your camera is draining all the power out of the regular batteries by just powering up. I prefer the Sanyo eneloop rechargeables. They cost a little more, but stay charged longer. Also, you can keep two charged ones in your camera case and they will stay charged. They will not run down out of the camera. |
