I've been waiting forever to buy a digital camera and the time has come that I have enough money to get a really good one, but the question is, which brand of camera should I buy?
The number one thing I need is a huge screen, probably 3", and I also obviously want one with good quality and good color, but I don't know which ones have good quality or not.
Oh, and I'm looking for a nice slim one.
Any suggestions? Sony blows. Seriously. I have worked for both Kodak and Sony as a sales rep at Best Buy, Circuit City, and Sears. I didn't stick around in either job because I didn't like the products and couldn't sell them as a result.
Go to Best Buy. They aren't paid on commission so you get honest answers. But also keep in mind that they may or may not have a lot of experience. Their employees get paid to sell cameras their first day whether they know anything or not. (Ritz/Wolf/Inkley's is the worst at pushing a particular brand because they get kickbacks. I worked there in high school and we were supposed to push Fuji at the time.)
My evaluations, after owning Nikon, Canon, Sony, Pentax, Minolta, and Olympus cameras, and selling pretty much everything:
* Sony is too expensive and too complicated to use. Most people really struggle with the interface compared to other brands.
* Kodak is absolutely the easiest to use, but the color rendition is horrible, the signal-to-noise ratio is bad (image noise or grain), and exposures are all over the place outdoors.
* Pentax is good. Not remarkable in any way. Just very consistently good.
* Olympus is good, but their low-end models suck.
* Nikon is great, but their low end point-and-shoots are slower than Canons and often cost more.
* Canon sells many times more digital cameras than anyone else. Usually I don't take that to mean much (McDonalds, Ford, and Microsoft all sell a lot of their products, but that doesn't make them the best) but in this case I think it does. They have models for every type of person and they're all quite good. I have never seen a crappy Canon. Ever. I shoot Nikon professionally but I like Canon point-and-shoots.
The Canon Digital Elph series will meet your needs very nicely. i think it was the sony cybershot i have an HP Photosmart and i love it! it's easy to use and has nice quality to the pictures. the latest sony 1 ok, I really like the Sony Ciber shot. Its a really great camera, they have one at Best Buy that is a touch screen and its only 299.00 one sale. go to there web site and read about them. they all record video too. sony cybershot, easy to use, great photos, small and slim, and I believe the screen is 2.5", have had no problems with it in over a year of buying it where my friends have had nothing but problems with their HP's. there are so many and then there is the best for the money,, you can spend $100 at walmart or even up to 3 or 400 other places, I have 2 that I bought at Goodwill and they both work great and do what I need or want any of the canons
go to canonusa.com
pick the one you like
then go to yahoo shopping for a good price
canon is rated number one this site might help you narrow your choices. Especially having a price range, and knowing what you want, you'll find a few to research further. I usually read customer reviews on online sites like Amazon or newegg. |
