I've never actually filled my regular consumer digital camera (which is 6mp) except for video, but I know I've gone over 600 on a regular sandisk 1g SD card, so I figured that because of the quality it won't be exactly the same image per gig...abite...whatever.
If you know how much each card (in capacity levels) can hold on a 10.1mp (Rebel XTi) digital SLR, just list it. Well first of all, the XTi uses a CF card, not an SD card.
My experience with the XTi, they have about 3-4 MB for each photo for the highest quality JPEG, and some 6-9 MB for RAW files. I have a 4 GB CF card and the counter says I can shoot for about 800-900 pictures on the highest JPEG setting, about 150-200 pictures if I shoot RAW+JPEG, and about 400 if I just shoot RAW.
Since you want an 1 GB CF card, just divide that by four and you'll get about 200-225 pictures for highest JPEG quality, or 70-90 pictures if you shoot RAW.
Of course this is just as an estimation - the number on my first paragraph doesn't seems to add up but I'm guessing it's the camera's estimation that went wrong at some point. I actually have never shoot until the memory ran out so I can't say the exact number. But with my experience with the original Digital Rebel, there are bound to be some deviation about the number of shot you're going to get, and the number of estimation the camera make. 1gb = 180
2gb = 260
