I am about to embark on a round the world trip and could do with some advice on digital cameras? |
am a little clueless and wondered if anyone had a great one they could recommend. I can't fit in a large SLR so am after a high performace compact, hoping for a good zoom. the ricoh r5 and fuji f30 have been suggested... any pointers would be so much appreciated suzi I have a Canon Power Shot A520 and love it. It's small/compact and takes great pictures. I would suggest buying an extra " film card" to take along as well as extra AA batteries. This camera also makes movies, has great zoom. all features are located on top on one button, you just have to turn to the one you need. Hi Suzi where are you going first? Can get some good deals on Cameras in Thailand- I have a Richo. However I think your memories will capture more than a camera ever can. My advice is to get a cheap digital, download the pictures as often as possible so when you lose it its not a big financial loss, and you can buy another cheap cmera. I lost/broke 2 cameras and 3 phones on a years travelling (maybe just unlucky). Whatever you buy, make sure it's waterproof to a certain degree because this also means it's dustproof! how long are you gonna go for? honestly, carrying aroudn a camera for any extended length of time becomes a burden. most people i ran into on my 6 mth voyage simply went with one of those cheap disposable cameras, if they had a c amera at all. with a digital camera, you've got to worry about carrying it around, adapters for electricity, batteries, pick-pockets, etc. it's not really worth it. just go and enjoy your trip. if you really need a camera, just buy a disposable one. sony dsc p10 good small and not expensive I've just bought the Fuji film V1 finepix, it's on offer at the moment at Jessops, it was 拢200, it's now 拢149.99 with a half price leather case. I've recommended it to 2 other people who have also bought it. It's got all the mega pix you need, plus it's easy to charge, long battery life and we nicknamed it pretty, skinny cam! Everyone looks so pretty on the pictures! They can also look quite skinny too! My camera was famous in India this summer, every one wanted one! Hiya. I agree that the Fuji Finepix range are by far the best. But you know, I have the professional Finepix and I have a compact and to be honest you cannot really tell the difference whilst using automatic settingss. So unless you really want to get into the manual settings, just go for a compact. The best tip I can give you is to buy as many storage cards as you can afford. Buy them online though and not from the suppliers of the camera ... there are lots of good deals and you can use a generic card. hi , In general 4 things are important in digital For me, I would buy either a Canon Ixus, or a Panasonic for the electronics. At least three proper batteries, two 512MB cards (or greater), but don't hope for that good a zoom on a compact - probably better to go for one that gives average zoom (always optical) and better features and quality, avoid a camera that is loaded with gimmicks. I have got a Pentax Optio M10, 6 mega-pixels, 3x optical zoom with 6 digital. The functionality on it is really good, easy to use and loads of quick photo options. Also has the capability to make the pictures less resolution to use less space on memory card. Large screen on the back too to review your just taking snaps. Good on batteries too. All for 拢100 I just bought my boyfriend a new Samsung NV10 compact digital, shop around on the web for about 拢220. Use a Kodak V160. it is are amazing. it has 10X optical zoom, dual lens, Bluetooth, and like every other feature you could possibly want, and it is only like 拢279.99 here is the website. @ the end of the day its down to taste and budget! I have been using a lot of Fuji products! but would recommend most products including canon, olympus, nikon the list goes on! Go to your local camera shop and ask to try out some compact DC's. Can I go with you, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze! I got olympus camedia C-765. it is great small camera with bigger zoom. great for taking picture just point and shoot. It was cost me under 拢 200 on amazon. great purchased. take a few memory card if you do not take a lap top. |
