I have been a bit slow catching up with the digital camera scenery. I have a NIKON F-601 with AF NIKKOR 28-70 (1:3.5 - 4.5 D) lens. I want to buy a DSLR body. Which DSLR would I need? Will my NIKKOR lens fit with the D70s or D80 ? Or is my lens obsolete? Please kindly suggest. the D70 and D80 should both be able to fit your lens, but be warned: your lovely wide angle will be no more. Because it has a half frame sensor, it zooms in by 1.5, so you can multiply that lovely 28mm by 1.5. on the plus, your zoom is increased, but I dont care about zoom I WANT WIIDE!! sorry about that.
anyway, there you have it, and if you want proper wide angles, get a super wide lens or a full frame sensor which will cost you you house. Any DLSR except the D40. But among your picks, I strongly suggest getting the D80. Your lens is okay but it doesnt have the most important feature of new lenses - ED elements or Extra-low Dispersion elements. These elements eliminate chromatic aberation. |
