I have a Pentax K100 Digital SLR Camera. I also have a friend that races sprint cars. It is usually night, but the stadium lights light the track up pretty good. Also, I have to shoot through a fence that I can not get close to. What settings do I use to get good action photos of my friend racing? Does anyone have any tips and/or tricks? use iso400 or more, use biggest appeture you can EG F2 or 2.8,
use a tripod or monopod, manually focus as auto wont do it for you
you can focus the fence out with practice and manual zooming (use your feet-move beck n forth)
a Get a "all areas" pass and then get away from that fence. Shoot from the pit area.
Use the high-end Pentax flash designed for that camera and a long lens ... at least 200mm. Of course you will have to bump your ISO up to 3200 if you have that ability.
I shoot night drags a few times a year and my clients keep hiring me to come back. |
