Ok, a serious question for you!?

So I am looking into buying a digital SLR camera, as mine needs replacing, can anyone recommend a good one, I don't really want to spend more than 拢500?

For that money, consider the Nikon D50 with a "decent" lens, such as their Nikkor AF-S 18-70 f/3.5-4.5G ED DX lens and not the "kit" lens. Get at least a 1 GB SD memory card with a decent write speed. I like the Sandisk Ultra II. My wife has exactly this set-up and she is very happy with it. You'd like a good flash, too, but maybe later... $$$

This will not really serve you to far into a professional career, but you will be able to get very professional results. You can build an assortment of a few lenses that you can continue to use when you upgrade to a real professional level camera.

Others will recommend Canon cameras and they are a fine choice. I just happen to be a Nikon user. You find passionate arguments about which is better - Canon or Nikon - but it's the same as asking someone if they prefer a Mercedes to a BMW.

Or, go to http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare.... and see what they select for you.

Try shopping around a little first, get the model number and then search it out on ebay. Good Luck, Bob

well go with a canon digital rebel....two versions...on 5mp and 8mp which is pretty much the 30D without some of the advanced not really used features and a 3" lcd.... I have the 8mp Rebel as a backup to my 30D...Also you can try the powershot S3 which is a D@MN good camera with out the interchangeable lens....

GOOD LUCK

www.pricerunner.co.uk will find you the best prices

A canoj Digital Reble i have no idea what itis called in the UK but it is just under L 500

SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex, which is the mechanical shutter used to expose light sensitive film. A digital camera does not use light sensitive film, but it does have an electronic shutter.

It is not known as an SLR though.
A good brand for a great price is the Nikon Coolpix camera, which is available on Ebay for around 54 GBP, or 100 USD.

so how bout dinner babe?

Yes, the Canon EOS 350D (Digital Rebel in the U.S.) could be the one to get. And you should easily get it for under your price range.
The kit lens (18-55mm) is not the greatest, so factor in the cost of one or two extra lenses (which will probably each cost more than the camera itself).
There are a number of new camera releases on the horizon...the Nikon D80 and something from Canon within the month, so expect current models to drop further in price.

The only problem with the Canon Digital Rebel is the plastic body. It just seems to me that if your going to be spending that kind of money on a SLR it should be made a little more substantially.

I would suggest that you take a look at Jessops. I have used them for many years for most of my photgraphic needs, and they have branches all over the country these days. Another thing you can try before you make a choice, is buying a few photography magazines and reading reviews of different camera models. The adverts in the mags are also a good source of current prices.

visit http://netnew.tripod.com and search

OK, take a look at Pentax K100D ($699 USD with lens). 6 meg, metal mount, 18-55 lens, very nice feel.

Unless you want to hang around with interchangeable lens why do you go for dSLR?

A couple of years ago, I was thinking exactly the same thing. Finally I chose Fuji Finepix S7000 (prosumer camera) and I was very pleased with my decision. I changed to Fuji Finepix S9500 when it came out. Now I am still using it and I am loving it.

However if you desperately want a dSLR, Nikon D70, Nikon D50, Canon EOS Rebel are recommended by reviewers.

Go to FROOGLE its on the google home page above the search field.

Just type in "digital SLR" or refine your search and "Hey, Presto", it will give you a list of comparitive prices.

Happy hunting

I would def go for a canon 350D. it's a 6.3 megapixel camnera, its great quality and a fantastic slr camera to get strarted on.

Olympus E500. 8mp, and more features than youll ever use. camera, 2 lenses (zuiko) 3 batteries, charger, 2gigs of CFlash, and a bag, with a five year guarantee package 470 quid at PC world... oh, and its a real camera, it just takes photos...
