Which is the best camera to buy. I am looking at 10-12 megapixels. Please advise of any good website and the $

Not SLR. I am looking at Digital Camera but High Megapixel. What is the maximum a Digital Camera can go in terms of megapixel

my opinion
your megapixels are too high

try yahoo shopping

I just bought a Fugifilm Finepix s700 at prestige cameras for 179.00 plus tax and shipping. It's a bit larger then most digital cameras but it takes awesome pics

I have a Canon Powershot and just love it! They have it in several configurations including a 10MP non-SLR version, model A640, that is under $300. Check out the ratings on Amazon for all 10MP digital cameras. That will also help you make an informed decision.

It all depends on what type of camera you want? Do you want a point and shoot compact or a DSLR or a Digital medium format which goes for $20k+ there is a camera that has a 250gigapixels, but don't think you can buy that one yet!!

Before you start think about what you wan the camera to do for you and how you are going to use it.

The best places to start looking is Ebay, you can buy new camera at a damn good price and every Mpixel known to man!

Casio do very good point and shoot camera for thier price, and the Nikon D40x or D80 ($500-$900) are fantastic DSLR's.

Generally 10 megapixels is the maximum.

Canon PowerShot A640 $300
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-N2 $350

These are the highest rated if you want 10 megapixels... by Consumer Reports. The Sony is smaller and has better picture quality but you can go to a store and compare the models, see which you like better. Overall they are almost equally good.

I don't know the best 10-12 megapixel brand to buy, but my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H2 will give me an excellent 8X10 print and is only 6 megapixels.
If you must have at least 10 MP, checkout
Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2. Check out Website dpreview.com for reviews and prices.

As a semi-pro photographer, I would advise you NOT to buy a compact camera with that many pixels.

The camera manufacturers are trying to trick consumer into thinking that more is better. But it all comes down to quality vs quantity. By making pixels smaller, their ability to absorb light get weaker. You'll end up with more pixels, but generally with less quality.

Unless you plan to use it only ourdoors during sunny days, go with a nice 7-8 megapixel camera.

www.dpreview.com is a good place to do research.
Amazon.com is a good place to buy.
