Can i swap the lens ? |
ok... i have a nikon n55 (film slr camera) i am looking into buying a d50 (digital slr) i was told that all nikons use the same lens mount... so i figured i could just buy the digital camera body, and use my film lens... can i do this? will there be any ill affects ? warped images? of a bad focus ? The nikon n55 camera has a Nikon F lense mount along with the Nikon D50. You know your stuff and you're not rude to other posters. You got a thumbs up! Report It Terisu - thank you very much, that's kind of you to say. Report It I have heard that there is a special coating on the Digital Lenses (because they are more light sensitive) to prevent ghosting. Although you can use the older lenses, you will get much better results from the newer digital lenses (because of the features). If you can only afford the camera now, and not the lens, use an old lens temporarily until you can afford one of the new ones. I am not personally familiar with Nikon gear but, I have heard conflicting answers to this question, depending on the maker, model, type of lenses (manual or auto-focus) and age of lenses. I know that my Pentax (Asahi) lenses are interchangeable from older SLR to modern digital bodies but, I really can't speak for Nikon, Olympus, Canon, etc. My advice would be to take your SLR lenses to the camera store and ask to try them. That's the beauty of digital, you'll know instantly. I'm sure the store wouldn't mind if it meant a potential sale for them. If you're buying a digital camera body sight unseen however, (e.g. on eBay) then my advice would be to go straight to the source first- email Nikon with your lens and digital body specs. You could be out some bucks otherwise. Good luck. First off you fail to state what lens you have. For the most part if it is a Nikon lens and it works on your N55 it will work on your D50. i own a n90 and a d50 and interchange lenses all the time they work great you will need a new flash though they are not really interchangable for most older flash units |
