I need to take photos of a basketball game, and need an SLR speed camera to take loads of photos, because the game itself is very quick. Is this camera any good? I can only spend 100 - 120 pounds or so:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fuji-FinePix-S57... There are plenty of good used Nikon and Canon SLR's for sale with lenses for under that cost. I purchased a Nikon N60 with 28-80mm lens for my ex for under 30 pounds a month ago.
Check craigslist ... it may take some time, so be patient. the fuji 5700 is not an slr camera ,
the only slr from fuji is the s5pro
saying that i think fuji are good cameras There is some good bargains at Argos at the moment.Up to 拢130 off original prices. Nikon F55 is down to 拢120 with 2 lens.Just shop about or buy Practical Photography.Plenty of bargains in there. I like the optical zoom on the camera, but I have not been impressed by any digital camera's shutter speed and lag except for the very expensive ones. If you do try digital instead of analog, you can speed it up by shutting down the resolution. MPG movie mode might be handy for you, too.
Film SLRs are now pretty cheap (except for good lens), and 800 ASA pushed processed to 1600 will still get you better stop action than the cheaper digitals.

Good luck.
Kim Kommando is the hottie for camera and techy info in the States. Lots of info on this very subject and downloads here:

Good luck. You'll not get any digi SLR for under 2 to 3 times your budget. There are plenty of second hand film SLRs available for under your budget but I get the impression that you want a digi.
I've been researching a bridge camera of the type you're considering, and spent some time checking out a 5700 (along with Panasonic, HP, Kodak and Sony). It's a good camera for the money, but is a bit limited for what you intend to do with it (I was looking for a camera that was good for motorcycle racing so needed something similarly fast). In the end I paid a little more and went for the Fuji S6500. This is available for 拢135 through Jessops if you use the "JESSOPS10" discount code.
It's got a fast sport mode with almost entirely eliminates shutter delay, and a manual zoom (not a powered one) so it's quick and easy to zoom in and out (also doesn't waste batteries doing it).
It is a lot bigger than the 5700 (which feels like a toy in comparison). It's the size and weight of a proper SLR which may or may not be a good thing for you.
I'm very impressed with it. |
