Looking for digital camera with wide fase lense and uses standard battery?

I am looking for a late production digital camera which provides the following:

1. wide lense (28mm or 24mm). Hopefully it is also f2.8 or faster

2. uses standard AA or AAA batteries with decent powser assumption

3. little shutter lag (full press or half to full press)

4. Hopefully light weight with creative features and image stabilization. But not required.
Would try to avoid an SLR by all means (too many lenses to carry for travel).

Currently uses Olympus 5050 zoom (lense is fast, although not wide enough but works with add-on lens. Shutter lag is a bit annoying. Uses 4 AA batteries with very decent power consumption).

I am looking at Panasonic Lx2 or Kodak 880. Would appreciate recommendations.

The Panasonic LX2 is very noisy in low light:

Unfortunately, I do not see ANY cameras that take "AA" batteries that go to 24-28 mm.

I'm not a huge fan of the camera, but the widest angle I know about in a small, easy to operate camera is the Kodak V705. I say that I'm not a fan, because you won't get extremely high quality images from the wide angle end, which is fixed at an equivalent of 23 mm. We both know that you are not going to try making any photographic quality, poster-sized prints, though, with this camera. In fact, if you don't do any cropping, you might even be happy with prints as big as 8x10.

My top choice would be the Canon Powershot SD800-IS (IS may help in low light)

Some others worthy of consideration that "only" go as wide as 28 mm (equivalent) are:

I don't know if you'll ever see this and I doubt I'd know if you did, but... Here's a link showing a chart of various cameras and their shutter lag as well as the time it takes to shoot five frames:

well, im not a digital camera expert, but i recommended that you should get any kodak camera because it has fast lens. it uses standard AA batteries. it also has a little shutter. its light weighted, and you dont have to carry many lenses. not sure about the olympus, panasoniclx2, but i would recommened that you get kodak easyshare c530 because its light weighted, fast lens to take pictures, uses AA Batteries, barely carry any extra lenses. let me know how it goes at: thedramaofhistory@yahoo.com
also has many features when its lightweighted.

I think the only one that meets your requirements would be the Fuji S6000fd, which is a great camera and is now available for well under $300. however, it's not a compact.

If you're looking for a compact, and are willing go forgo the 'AA' battery requirement, the panasonic FX series would be an excellent choice. FX01, FX07, FX50 etc.

I've never been an Olympus fan, but the FE200 also has a 28mm wide angle lens with a 5x zoom, which is nice.
