What kind of digital camera do i need to get as much in the frame as possible?

right i have an olympus digital compact camera mju410......its crap basically if i take a photo of someone in front of a statue i cannot get all of the statue in behind them and if i stand further back to get the statue in you can hardly see the person so what camera do i need and should i pick one with a certain focal length or something?i dont want an slr as they are too expensive for me and overkill for what i need.

Think about what you're asking for... you want to take a picture of a 5 foot person standing in front of a fifty foot statue. If you get the whole statue in the frame, this person is only 1/10th of the frame, so (s)he will look small.
What you could try is having you subject stand a good distance in front of the statue and then take the picture some distance farther back, so that you frame the entire statue, but your friend is a reasonable size (although not to scale) in front of it.
I'm not sure about the capabilities of your camera; you may have difficulty getting both the statue and the person in focus at the same time, due to either depth-of-field issues or the capabilities of the camera's autofocus program. The lens is pretty small so DOF is probably not too much of an issue, but you'll be limited by the autofocus capabilities of the camera. I think your camera has autofocus lock, so try focusing on the person, locking the focus and then framing the picture around the statue.

You need a digital camera that has a Wide Angle Lens. This will do exactly what you want.

You can get pretty good, cheap digital cameras with wide range lenses.... i recommend fujis and you can buy refurbished ones from their site as well. Most fuji digital cameras have lenses that allow you to get in a wide shot, despite quite close proximity.

Good luck

Happy snapping (oh god it's awful isn't it! You can't blame me, it's late!)

Point & shoot digitals like what you have won't really vary much when it comes to what fits in the frame. You'd really need a different lens, and the only way to do that is SLR. The digitals are expensive, but you can find a good film one at a pawn shop or used camera store for around $100

There are two ways to go. First purchase a point and shoot camera which will accept axillary lenses and purchase a wide angle one.

Or buy an entry level DSLR (Canon or Nikon) with a wide angle lens (17mm or shorter).

i have the same problem with my camera..ive tried zooming in but it doesnt work..idk what to tell ya

Nothings going to change that. It's a matter of height.

The Kodak V570 is a dual lens camera that offers a 23mm ultra wide lens, which will generally solve your moving back problems.

It's price around $200
