I have a Cannon 300D Digital SLR camera.
I also have many prime lenses for my older SLR (non-digital) Minolta X-300 including a 500mm lens.
Please doesanyone know of an adaptor to use the older lenses on the new Digital SLR. I am not so worried about the auto focus that I'll loose with the older lenses. Manual focus not a problem? Probably nothing that you could find at this point. It's not just as simple as making the mechanical connection, the distance between the focal plane would also need to match to allow proper (manual) focusing.
Here is a link where some folks discuss this, it is possible, but it doesn't sound very practical. and you lose all your metering... so you have to set teh lens manually...
trust your 300d to do a far better job faster..
im in the same boat, with an e500 olympus and a bag of lenses and bodies..all zuiko olympus... in fact teh only advantge i could find was better focussing in poor light, but on manual focus the e500 was great... but its not a 35mm in that you can set everything in a second, whilst focussing... too many menus... so, trust your 300d and enjoy it.. You'll loose not only the focusing but also the aperture.
I would suggest taking your lenses to a store that carries the new Sony Alpha. The Sony Alpha is compatible with all Minolta lenses, so there's a good chance you will still be able to use your lenses with a digital SLR camera.
Take care!
Ignacio Minolta, like the morons at Canon, change there lens mount when they went to auto focus, so Minolta older manual lens won't fit on newer cameras. |
