Best Digital Camera to use without flash engaged?

I'm looking to buy a digital camera for basic shots. My background is film, and I hardly ever use the flash on my SLR. But I noticed many digital cameras always use flash, and if you don't it's hard not to get a blurry image, especially if the room isn't very bright.

I was wondering if anybody knew what digital camera would be best for capturing shots without the flash engaged.

they all have flash and the ability to turn it off, look for one with a fast lens like f2.8

EDIT: sorry i have been corrected, thank you Tiger!

so get one of those canons or just get any digi and lock the flash off

Canon G7 & G9 don't have a flash, however they both have hot shoes. They also both have that nice feel of an old Canon QL 17 GIII. Great quality photos and a lot of manual options.

To use a good camera without flash, you need a camera with a high ISO capability with low noise.

Assuming for the moment you don't want a digital SLR (which would be the easy answer), then I'd recommend the Fujifilm F40fd, which has a good reputation for high ISO shots.
