Anyone know of a good manual SLR camera? |
just looking for a manual camera that will work well with black and white film and isn't as pricey as the digital slr's of the moment Nikon Fe, Nikon fe-2,Nikon fm,Nikon fm-2,Nikonf2,NikonF3...all of these are great cameras used by pros. Reporters, national geographic..etc. As fas as I know, the best manual camera ever and a favorite among reporters is the Nikon FM1. I've used it for bw photography and it's all you need and nothing you don't. It has a clutch to expose the same frame more than once, it's a reflex, it let's you see the depth of field for an specific lens aperture in the viewer at the press of a button, you can attach an electrical drive to make it automatic (at least the film advance). It's RUGGED, you can drop it (don't though) and it will work. You can fit a flash too. Max exposure is 1/2000 and it has a bulb setting.. simply the best. Nikon's only manual focus camera at present is the FM10 (which is contract-manufactured - actually not built at Nikon). Kenko will be coming out with an FM10-clone this summer that appears to be higher-quality build than the Cosina-produced FM10. |
