The Nikon D40x ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as... Cannon Digital Rebel XTi (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as... I am also open to the Rebel XT. Anyways, do you think these are good camera's? I have read a little about having image stablization in a lens for telephoto shots. Will my shots be blurry on a long zoom if I don't have this? I am looking at this lens for the Cannon (http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/251664... and this lens (http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/251666... for the Nikon. I haven't checked compatability yet but I am looking for a lens with a long zoom like that. I am looking at those lenses with a 2x converter. I am open to any tips and suggestions. I am looking for a sports action camera that will also work with scenery. Thanks again.. In the hands of a good photographer the answer is yes
in the hands of a poor photographer the answer is no
a Yes they will. But remember it is the photographer who make the great photos, not the camera.
It is never a good idea to go cheap when you start buying good equipment.
For scenery you will need a 12-24mm zoom and yes it will work on the D40x.
For sports you need something like a 70-300mm and there is one that will work on the D40x
So now you are left with the 24-85mm range missing, but you will have to look for that lens. The lens I use is over $800 and will not work with the D40x. You will have to search the Internet for that
I don't know Canon's but I am sure there are lenses that will do what you want.
As far as using a 2x converter on any lenses, you will have to do a search for the compatable lenses for those. Will these cameras take good photos with these lens combinations? Yes, but ultimately, the quality of the photos is heavily dependent upon the quality and skill of the photographer.
You don't need image stabilization for telephoto shots if your practice good techniques, like using a tripod, bracing the camera when you don't have one, or using some other method to support the camera and minimize your own camera shake/movement.
If you add in a 2x teleconveter, you will reduce the quality of your images, and it appears you're already selecting cheaper quality lenses to start off with. So, be prepared for some loss of quality.
With scenery, typically you need a wider field of view than a telephoto, hence you will need to have a lens with a wider angle view.
It appears you're on a budget, so recommending more expensive lenses is probably not going to work for you. I would suggest instead that you take a good look at the Nikon 18-135mm AF-S lens, which covers from wide angle to moderate telephoto. See the link in sources. While it's more expensive than the cheapy 70-300mm you linked to, it's a much more versatile lens. |
