Looking for a good low price beginner digital SLR camera?

If you are on a budget, I recommend that you look in to the Pentax DL2.

You can get it with a lens for about $550. I own a Pentax DS and highly recommend the Pentax DSLR's. They are compact, lightweight and have best-in-class viewfinders. You can get great used lenses off of eBay. The lenses that Pentax made for their manual focus cameras over 20 years ago still work well on the DL2.

I used to own and use a Canon system but switched to Pentax. Canon has a superior selection of high-end lenses so if you think any of those may be in your future, stick with Canon. I don't have any experience with Nikon.

I buy "high end camera's
so what you feel is a good price may differ from me
I've spent many thousands on Digital SLR's
but the pic's are worth it....

Look at a Minolta 7D, this one seems pretty good
and is not priced too high

if you find such a thing let me know! I am working with my canon slr ..it's a rebel Ti I love it..but am saving money for the digital one.. if you do find a cheap one..clue me in!

Ebay!! Check out ebay, they have new things on there every single day, you often find excellent deals.

Simply put, the Canon Digital Rebel. I have been using for well over a year and you can't tell the difference in images between Cameras priced twice as much. I own my own studio and have portfolio quality work with it.

Your looking about 1K with lens and 1G card. If your serious about learning and getting to know SLR's.

If not there are a ton of lower end SLR's that are fair to good, but I am unfimiliar with them.

Every company, or at least the major ones, make low and high end DLSRS. You need to look at each of them and figure out which one has a feature set that benefits the shooting you will be doing. Not that all of them don't have similar features, but there are slight differences. The other possibility is to buy a used body that may be older, yet more capable in other ways. Figure out how much money you want to spend, then research each company's offerings and study the specs on each model you are interested in....then determine which is best for you.

I've always been told that Canons are the best and so far I can't disagree.

Canon 350D
About the best value on the market today with a quality indestiguishable from much higher priced cameras. Indeed much of the internal gubbins is the same.
