Which is better digital slr camera of these 2?

which is better Fuji FinePix S9600 or Nikon D40

the fuji is cheaper but has 9mp, the nikon is a bit more expensive but only 6mp - although i heard these are good cameras.

As Clavestone already answered - you are not comparing like with like. The FinePix 9600 is an EVF, Electronic Viewfinder design while the Nikon D40 is a true SLR Single Lens Reflex.

You need to do some more research into what the differences are and what you want / need in a camera. You are also obviously caught in the "more megapixels myth" that more MP means the camera is better - which is not always true.

Neither - go for the Samsung S series - cheaper and better quality

I have a Nikon D50 and it's excellent. Nikon have been making SLR cameras and lenses for years, and they produce a quality product. Until recently Fuji made film, they only jumped into cameras begause film was on its way out.

There are loads of 2nd hand lenses available for the nikon as well (on e-bay, etc) so that's a plus point.

In conclusion, pay more and go for the Nikon. Megapixels aren't everything.

Out of the two cameras which of them has the best zoom? Which has the most optical zoom? which ever it is go with that one.

With digital cameras, any camera that has more than 5 mp is pretty much the same as any other. THe only time you need more mega pixels would be if you were wanting to blow your photos up to wall paper size shots. For normal every day photograpy, a 5 mega pixel camera is really all you need.

These days its all to do with the optical soom.

Personly i would go for the fuji because of the price and pic quality, it just seems to be the logical answer.

First off the Fuji is not an SLR it's a prosumer camera (DSLR's can remove their lens, fuji S9600 can't). In which case the D40 is your option.

Clavestone

Depends on what you classify as "better"
Fuji probably has more automatic features thus less learning curve for you. 9mp might sound good but that is not a measure of better picture quality.
D40 is a DSLR which means you can have more control and you can change lens for different shooting format.

Fuji has movie mode but Niko hasn't (DSLR - you know!)

You need to think about what you can afford and if you are prepared to take on a steeper learning curve of the Nikon. If you are a point and shoot person - Fuji is the go.

You and you alone can make up your own mind what suits your need.

If you could stretch a we bit more you can get the D40X with 10mps.......But spend your money wisely and put it into a Canon EOS 400D.

have a look at the canon 350d, since the 400 came out you pick up a good deal package..!

the Nikon will give better pictures because the range of lenses available and the setting like format size and jpeg and raw
Nikon any day

I have to say I steered clear of both these manufacturers. Im a canon man through and through.

Canon have excellent lens options available and good custormer service.

On actual models, you can go as good as you can afford. The EOS 400d is quite new and reasonably priced.
10Mp, excellent custom settings and easy to use interface from about 拢400 - 拢450

I use the 30d. More expensive but better build quality and chipset.

Good luck with whatever you end up choosing!
