400D or the 400D Rebel Xti and what the difference
thank you 拢500 will not get you a professional camera. Having said that, the Canon 400D (also known as the XTi) is a great camera FOR THE PRICE.
Cheaper options are its predecessor, the Canon 350D (a.k.a. Rebel XT), the Nikon D70s, and Nikon鈥檚 economy model, the D50.
Canon and Nikon both have a cheap kit lens, an 18-55mm, which provides a nice zoom range for most stuff, but the image quality (with both) is rather poor. Get a better lens if your budget allows. The best 鈥榠nexpensive鈥?combination is a Nikon D50 with a Nikon 18-70mm zoom. If you're looking for a pro DSLR, 拢500 is way off the mark unfortuantely, the EOS 1DS MKII is about 拢5000, thats a 'pro' cameras the 400D although a good camera can no way be classed as a pro camera, its a toy in comparison. Nikons are a bit like harleys, everyone seems to want one... its badge engineering at its best.
I have always used olympus cameras, from an Om1, 2 & 4ti, theyve served me well, now i have an E500. it runs rings around the nikon. 4000 to 8 minutes... no nikon can do that. ive taken photos at F22 by moonlight, and theyre incredible. the other night i shot a band, lit by one tablelamp... 1600asa pushed a stop...and shot in B&W..oh so grainy... and perfect for what i wanted, smoky bluesy blurred images... still guitars and blurred fingers, and no flash to distract anyone... (then i put down the camera and picked up my harmonica)
my lenses are the equal if not better than the competition, it comes with a 14-45 f1.2 to F22 and a 40 -150 F2.8 F22 lens
and can take any off camera flash. i use a metz ct45.
and at the moment youll get a great deal, i got my camera, 2 gigs of CF, 3 batteries and a charger and a bag for 拢470...PC world have lots and the managers will do a deal for cash.
personally i love it. but all it does is take photographs. no video, no frills... just a fantastic camera. 8megapixel, motordrive at 3FPS till the cards full... and a flash that can keep up for 8 frames.. at full res.
and of course it comes with a full range of auto options, and every manual adjustment you can think of..such as flash strength, and its got a fancy remote control, so you dont get camera shake on those long exposures.

"Best Pro" costs about five times your budget to get started. If you get a Nikon or Canon, you will at least have your foot in the proper door for unlimited, high-quality lenses and accesories if you want to continue to buy pro-level equipment.
