NYC Grand Central Station question?

I'm planning on walking around the station tomorrow to take some pictures with my SLR camera for fun...would it be illegal to do so and would a police officer who sees me, write me up a ticket?

My friend, you wouldn't have any problem taking pictures in and around Grand Central Terminal, just as long as you're not using professional equipment, such as a tripod.

Good luck and enjoy

no problem, you can take photos

The General Rule
The general rule in the United States
is that anyone may take photographs
of whatever they want when they are
in a public place or places where they
have permission to take photographs.
Absent a specific legal prohibition
such as a statute or ordinance, you are
legally entitled to take photographs.
Examples of places that are traditionally
considered public are streets,
sidewalks, and public parks.
Property owners may legally prohibit
photography on their premises
but have no right to prohibit others
from photographing their property
from other locations.

So long as you do not create a public disturbance or disrupt the free flow of traffic, there is no problem with taking photos. There could be a problem if you set up a tripod, which would arguably block pedestrian traffic.
Anyhow, NYC cops don't hand out tickets, they shoot first LOL

no.
Just try not to go bet.9-11am and 5-8pm
because that is rush hour and it's annoying dodging around tourists when you are trying to get to your train.

I do it all the time, right in front of police and military.

It's perfectly legal. Give "Native New Yorker" Best Answer with his accurate source link. More people should do that.

Of course you can take pictures without worries...New York is awesome and no one will bother you....

Of course not....are you kidding?
you can take pics any time you want just dont disturb other people so you dont start an argument for no reason.its fine buddy, have fun with camera.
I LOVE NY!!
