Minolta to nikon?

I have an old minolta slr camera and recently have got a nikon d40x is there any adaptors for it to fit my minolta lenses if so where can the be purchased?

Here's a very insightful thread in photo.net about a minolta AF and MD to nikon F mount discussion. It seems, from reading a small part, that it is largely not possible. Check it out, maybe you can gain more insight:

There have been mounting adapters made for canon EF mount to nikon F mount used for mating canon lenses to nikon bodies. That's more possible because both mounts are very similar. Apparently, the minolta mounts are vastly different from both nikon and canon making it impossilbe. But given enough interest, you may be able to find someone who has made or will make an adapter. It's not too terribly difficult. Your main concerns will be the distance from the rear element to the sensor plane nulling your ability to focus to infinity, and absolutely no CPU mating for AF and metering capabilility. So if you do find a way to do it, you'll need a seperate light meter and at best you could use it as a macro or some other close focusing use.

Here's another message board discussion:

If you ask me, it's too much trouble. If you are a tinkerer, then it may be something to play around with. If not, buy yourself some nikon glass.

I'd say you'd be better off just getting Nikon mount lenses for your Nikon. If you don't want your old gear, then you can sell it off.

I'm actaully surprised you didn't go with the Sony A100/200 or A700, as it takes the minolta mount. Might that be an option for you?
