SLR CAMERA AMATEUR!! help me?

im an idiot. I know nothing about life...but what I do know about your average digital camera is that quality generally turns out shabby. The pictures blur out a lot and you can't see everything!! I'm obsessed with people...just people and their looks and their actions and I want to take pictures and videos and I never get that good of quality with the cameras I use. I want to be able to see every freckle or zit on their face...I want HIGH quality!!! I heard SLR cameras are known for "what you see is what you get" so that sounds good!! but what kind of film does SLR cameras use??? I want digital!!! And do they take videos?? I really want video!!! I'm more obsessed with people and what they do so i want videos, especially to upload to youtube but i'd like them to be higher quality to watch on a big tv. im soooo rambling but these are all my questions and I want help!! is it really worth it to invest all that money into a SLR camera??? or what else would be a good quality camera w/video?

SLR cameras are indeed high quality, but:
1) they don't take video
2) a good camera can't make up for a bad photographer
3) SLRs are big and heavy.

Digital SLRs don't take film; film SLRs take film. Digital SLRs use memory cards, like point and shoot digitals.

A good quality camcorder that can do stills would be a better option. There are camcorders that do this. If I can suggest one to you:

The Canon TX1 will do high definition video plus it's a 7mp camera. It's small, so it's not so heavy like an SLR. Since it's high definition, the movies will look good on a high def TV. And you can of course reduce the quality via a computer to upload to YouTube. Everyone wins!

Digital SLRs do not take video. If you want good videos, you would need a camcorder.

You may be obsessed with people, but be careful what kind of pictures you take. You don't want to get into trouble.

And do you really think it's fair to take videos of people and put them on youtube? How would you like it if someone did it to you? Would you like your zits plastered all over the internet? Just be considerate of other people.
