Which SLR Camera ? Help Please !?

Which SLR camera is the best for a Amatuer/Beginner Photographer?
Give me some cameras that are roughly around 拢200 at the most ... But other suggestions are welcomee. x x

I began with a point and shoot camera which served my purposes for 3+ years.

My recent search was leading me toward an SLR digital but learned that SLR's though having greater advantage for light, interchangable lenses lose the capability of taking video at all.

I used a 35 mm SLR for many years a while back so I was somewhat familiar with what they can do and thought they might be the thing for me in the digital world.

After some research and try out I decided to get instead a high-end point and shoot which has many of the features of an SLR ----mine has 16 separate buttons which when paired up give an entire field manual's worth of operations for me to master. The main interest I had for Digital SLR was to take pictures in poor light where autofocus is disabled by bad lighting. My camera and a few others can do a manual focus but you have to learn how to do this--it is not very obvious as it would be with an SLRD.

I spent about $ 400 on the camera but got an instruction course included with it [Canon S-5-IS] that showed the controls not only on my camera but also the currently most popular SLRD s----Canon, and Nikon.

The cheapest SLR is around $ 600 + lense etc. so it is a choice that can be complicated.

My eyes were opened at this instruction course and I have concluded that my choice was the most practical. What I knew about photography from the 35mm days is not wasted but the field has gotten to be 100 times more complicated since then so I am again a rank beginner, learning slowly as I progress.

Prices in EU are bound to be different than here in USA but I don't think 200拢 will buy very much of an SLRD unless it is a used one.

My camera is only slightly smaller than an SLRD.

I use Olympus myself. I have an E-300 and it works great, produces excellent images. Olympus has been making cameras for decades. TOlympus cameras tend to be a little less expensive and are considered a better value. Check out the Olympus E-510 at http://www.dpreview.com/. The E-510 is a 10MP camera with in body anti-shake. Olympus is usually consider a best value, especially for beginners.

Canon are good as well for about 拢140 ?? for a starter you wont go wrong

Take a look at the Sony A200 and the Pentax K20D. Both have their version of Image Stabilization in the camera body so you won't have to pay for it when you buy a lens.

I own the Fuji S5700 http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/digital/camera... and it's an amazing camera for the price. 10 x optical zoom, can be used as a point and shoot, but if like me you like manual configuration, you got the lot, full manual, shutter priority, aperture priority, then you got your scene modes that work well, the images are crystal clear, video is good on it too. Got mine for 拢140 but 拢104 on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fuji-FinePix-S57...
Thats cheap as chips.
Hope this helps.

Depends on which system you want to invest in. Nikon is great for flash photography, Canon for action & sports, Pentax for landscapes and the other brands will give you great photos too, especially for a beginner.
