Digital SLRS help please!?

Should you be experienced in handling a digital slr if you're gonna buy one? Or is having a normal digital camera good enough as an experience?

what are good digital slr brands?those that can be afforded too

the price can be up to 1k dollars.

You have to buy one to get the experience, so the correct answer is that no, you don't need to be experienced in handling a digital SLR as long as you're willing to work with the camera and learn its features.

Handling a normal digital camera is a good start. In fact, with a digital SLR, there are point and shoot modes to help you get started. From there, you can experiment and learn more about what your camera can do.

Good digital SLR brands: Nikon, Canon, Pentax, and Sony.

What's affordable: Nikon D40, Canon Rebel XT are the most affordable. And then spend the extra money (they're about $500 with a basic lens) on memory cards, a second zoom lens for telephoto, and possibly an larger external flash for more flash power. That's a good way to start with the world of digital SLRs.

Then, either experiment a lot or take some classes in photography. You'll have a lot of fun and learn some good skills!

No problems. Consider a D40, which can be used in a number of pre-set "Scene" modes just like the point and shoot you are using now. You can then transition into learning the features that give you more control. At $500, it's not that much more than the best point and shoot cameras.

No need to be experimented to handle a dslr, but remember that most dslr don't allow liveview (aiming with rear screen).
All dsrl brands are good ! Just try the cameras that interest you and see with which one you have the better feeling...

Most everyone will tell you CANON! NIKON! and they are good cameras. However, at the entry-level DSLR there are excellent alternatives.

Sony, Pentax, Olympus, Fuji and Sigma all offer DSLR cameras with more features than the comparably priced competition.

I suggest spending some time at digitalcameraguide.com and comparing comparably priced DSLRs from the various manufacturers. You just may find an affordable DSLR with Image Stabilization in the camera body and more AF lenses available than you'll ever need.

well the best under $1000 i think is perhaps a canon xti or xsi. excellent to start with and u will never regret it

You don't need to be experienced to buy one... just willing to learn. If you aren't willing to learn to use the manual features, it may be better to get a point and shoot.

Also take into consideration not only the price of the camera but accesories as well (memory cards, camera bag, extra battery, lens, etc.). The Canon Rebel XTi is a great entry level DSLR. You can find one for about $600 right now. I have one and I highly recommend it.
