The Best Digital Camera Under $400 ?

hi I'm looking to purchase digital camera under $400, I prefer SLR but it can be point shoot too.

I don't know why you picked $400. Right now the least expensive DSLR with lens is under $500. That is the Nikon D40 with a 18-55mm lens. There is a good reason to pay the extra $100 to get a DSLR ... really many good reasons. First they have a sensor that is over 15x larger than P&S cameras and secondly they have a much better analog to digital converter in them and of course you know, they (the DSLR's) use interchangable lenses ... P&S cameras do not.

I'd got with the Fujifilm Finepix F100.

nikon d40x or d60..............both at about 300.......have to shop to get the price,,,,,,,,,,,,,I found the 40x at 229 and the 60 at 299..........

i have a sony cybershot dsc p150, 7.2 megapixels and a carl zeiss lens. it's great with good quality snaps.

Look at the Kodak Easyshare range. I've found them to be very good.

I shopped for months for a camera and I am not sure there are any SLR cameras under 400 dollars. I had a cybershot from Sony that took fantastic pictures. (See my nature pics at www.myspace.com/kass55). We were robbed and lost that camera so we splurged on a Canon SLR eos 40D. It is great but so big we just ordered a small Canon...sure shot I think it is called, for carrying places where the big on is inconvenient. Best bet is to go somewhere like Best Buy or Circuit City and ask a knowledgeable clerk and try a few out for ho they feel in your hand.
