Will a nikon lens from a slr f55 analogue camera fit and work on a slr digital camera?

Will a nikon lens from a slr f55 analogue camera fit and work on a slr digital camera?

Not a problem as the F55 is uses an autofocus nikon f mount, your lenses should be fully functional on most Nikon DSLRs.

There is an exception, some of the latest Nikon DSLRs do not have an autofocus motor in the body, like the F55. They use only the superior ultrasonic motor technolgy built into newer lenses.

This meas your lenses may be manual focus only. Dependin gon your use this may not be problem. They should still meter properly in manual and all automatic modes.

I still use all my original Pentax lenses, some dating back to the mid 1970's alongside my recently purchased 21st century lenses on my Pentax DSLRs.

That is right ... your F55 (N55 in the US) uses the same auto-focus lenses as do the DSLR's made by Nikon, Fujifilm and Kodak 14n and SLR /n cameras.

By the way ... all SLR and DLSR's are analog cameras. The 35mm SLR captures the analog image on film and the DSLR captures analog images on a sensor which is then converted to a digital image file by the analog to digital converter inside the camera.

Yes.

Of the 2 previous answers pay attention to "proshooter". Unfortunately, "archer_dave" is extremely misinformed.

No.

I looked into this because I much preferred to use an SLR camera during my photography days. I still have lots of lenses, and thought I could just change the bodies for a digital.

No such luck !

None of the manufacturers of digital SLRs have made provision for us to use "analogue" lenses, and we are obliged to buy all-new digital lenses to fit the new bodies.

It may well be that it is impossible, technically, to do this, although with all this modern technology around, I find this difficult to believe.

Anyway, I'm sticking with my old cameras, and putting the developed pictures on to CD.
