What is the best Digital Camera (Compact or SLR-Like) for Indoor Sports?

I want to buy a new camera that I can use at indoor sporting events such as Arena Football, Hockey and Basketball. I currently have an older Kodak DX6490 (SLR-Like) and a newer Kodak V603 (Compact). Both of these do well during Outdoor events like Baseball and College football, but I need something better for the indoor stuff. Any help anyone can give me is greatly appreciated. By the way, I would prefer the Camera be under $600 (so no mega-lenses and the such).

The reason I prefer an SLR-Like is that most of the Venues I go to are for Professional Sports and they don't allow cameras with interchangeable lenses. Also, are there any SLR-like digitals with an F-Stop lower than 2.4?

forget the kodak or fuji and pick Canon brand,slr-like or compact.in compacts a570-a720-a650-sd850-sd870 are the newest ones.a series look like same and the specifications such as megapixel,face detection,optical zoom,are different.
a650,12mp,8x optical zoom,video recording,7 faces at a time.
a720,7mp,6x optical zoom,.........................
a570,7mp,4x....................
the sd series are thiner and need more care while carrying.the biggest difference between sd and a series is the hand grip in a series that stick the camera on your palm.
if you are looking for a slr-like the canon s5is is the answer for sure .8mp,12x zoom,......
