Can any one suggest a SLR camera? Which one is better in photo quality Analog SLR or Digital SLR?

Can any one suggest a SLR camera? Which one is better in photo quality Analog SLR or Digital SLR?

we should also refer to cameras as 35mm or 35mm style, medium format or large format. a film slr will outperform a 39mp digital camera as a 500c/m hasselblad is an slr.

Before you guys get too carried away .. cameras that use film and those that use digital memory cards are both analog cameras.

One captures the analog imagery on film, the other on a sensor. It is the transfer of the analog information captured by the sensor that goes through the analog to digital converter is where the "digital" part of the camera happens.

Please in the future refer to film cameras as such and digital cameras as such ... since both are analog cameras

That said, for the moment, film still provides the highest resolution images.

Yes, if you spend $39,000 on a medium format digital camera, it can match the quality of a $1500 film camera using low ISO transparency film ... but at what cost?

If your true goal is photographic excellence and high quality at a resonalble price, then the 35mm SLR is going to be your choice.

If your goal is to provide images to clients that need "deadline" images, then a DSLR is your only option.

Here's the deal:

You can buy a professional 35mm SLR for under $2,000 and it will last for decades or you can buy a $5,000 to $8,000 camera which will be good for from three to four years and shoot digital images. If your clients need digital images on a deadline, then the DSLR is your only option ... if your clients need high quality images for publication on non-deadline print media, then shooting transparency film is the way to go. You can always scan the 35mm transparencies to provide high quality image files.

The quality of film is better than digital. No matter how good you are at focusing in a digital camera, you will always need to sharpen a little in post production... you don't need to do this with film.

However, I personally prefer to shoot digital. I use the Canon Rebel XTi which is a great entry-level DSLR... plus the price has dropped a lot recently. Most of the students at school use this camera as well.

Most professionals now shoot digital. Not that there aren't pros using film but they are a very small minority. Some of the larger format cameras are better done with film, but as for SLRs it's a digital world.

And that's due to the excellent quality you can get from digital and how easy it is to modify or correct afterwards.

You need to have an idea of what you want to do with it - where you want to bring it, are you going to sell what you take, does it need to tolerate rain, what lenses do you think you might want to add on?

There are two big names, Nikon and Canon. I have Nikons and Nikon lenses and am very happy. They both make fine products with a huge assortmant of lenses. If you're serious about photography those are your two best choice, but there are others. I don't care what people shoot, so long as they shoot : )

I'm in the process of looking myself for a good SLR. Photo quality with analog cameras has yet to be matched by digital. Analog is still what the professionals use (correct me if I'm wrong, any professional photogs out there). However, digital is so convenient, and for most purposes such high quality nowadays, it's hard to imagine going back to film cameras.

I like Canon and Nikon but not sure yet about the model.

If you decide on a Nikon entry level DSLR, the d40 would be a wonderful one to start with!

don't be tempted by the d60 (its pretty much the same camera with more megapixels and bells/whistles). with the extra money you can get another lens, like stated earlier the 55-200 VR is quite popular.

I was going through the same thing a few months ago...Now I've finally decided on what to go for. I'll get to that but before that let me tell you it's a digital world so it makes sense to go for a DSLR moreoever you'll avoid of trouble of developing images and even saving them for long period.

There are many DSLR makers our there and the argument would go on for ever and ever about which is the best one to go for...I would say, it depends!!!

It depends on two main things...your long term plans in photography and ur budget at the moment. From your question I understand that ur an amatuer looking at exploring SLR photography.

Taking all these into consideration here are a few cams within the $700 price range

1. Nikon D40 (my personal favorate, why?? I'll come to it in a moment)
2. Nikon D60 (the latest entry level DSLR from Nikon)
3. Cannon Digital Rebel Xti
4. Olympus E-410

I would defn tell you to go for a Nikon D40 with a dual lens kit of 18-55mm and 55-200mm nikkor lens. You can get it for around $640 which is a steal!!!!!!

Why did I chose the nikon D40 out of the 3 others I mentioned?? Extensive research on this subject for the past 3 months....

Here is a review that'll help u decide urself...

It is definitely digital SLR. I suggest you better visit a camera shop and ask the sales man about the cameras. Find out which one sells more. Compare the price and features. Buy the better one.

Film is king and digital is now just catching up with full frame DSLR's if you don't know that you are ignorant.

the nikon D50 or D70s is beeter slr cameras
