How can I reduce the size of my digital pictures? |
Two questions: Irfanview batch resizes images and does whole lot of other useful things too. It's free at www.irfanview.com. The best thing I have ever found and I use myself is called Microsoft Powertoys. If you Google this, you will be taken to the Microsoft website where you will find multiple tools they call Powertoys. One of them is an image resizer. It is a VERY small and reliable program that resizes one to however many pictures you want at a time from 2-3MB down to 100-200KB in about a second for each one. The quality of the picture onscreen is unchanged but the size difference is unbelievable!. It even gives you choices of what size you want to change it too If you will never, ever do anything with your pictures except put them in e-mail or show them on a computer screen 640x480 might be okay, but why not spread your wings all the way to something like 1024x768? This would cover the full screen of a typical monitor and take twice as much room on a memory card, but it's still a relatively small file. You might send your photo to someone who wants to view it a little larger than you do. take them in the lowest setting that gives you a good image.a tip for you any photos you have taken that are `too big`take a photo of the photo on a lower setting.hope this helps don t send you pics by email - do it just 1 time to your webalbum |
