I've recently purchased a nice digital camera for use in school projects and graphic design, but I also have a strong interest into natural, spontaneous photography of everyday people in normal activity.
That being said, I need a camera that is very small, quiet, and unobtrusive to take out into the field. I just bought a small disposable camera to get started, but I was wondering if their might be something out there worth investing into. Any suggestions? To start with candid portraiture u need a range finder or a SLR camera. Considering your budget u can go for a vivitar manual SLR, or Canon EOS 66, Nikon F55 as the beginner level AF cameras. U definitely require a fast lens...i.e. to say a lens with a larger aperture. I know the elph line of cameras are on the small side. But I'd also suggest getting either a pda or cellphone that has a camera built in. Our society is so used to people using these things no one thinks twice about seeing someone with one (and nobody thinks their picture will be taken), whereas cameras make everyone pose. Though you won't be getting top-quality prints from most of these devices, you can get some truly candid photos. |
