When I import pictures onto my computer, they automatically show up HUGE. Is there some sort of setting on the camera to make the pictures come out a smaller size? For reference, the camera is a Sony Cyber-shot. I would love if someone has experience with this camera, but I'll take any suggestions! Personally, I would not solve this problem by turning down the image size and resolution unless you really want to use that approach. Most of the time, I want all the resolution I can get.
When I open my photos in Photoshop Elements, the whole image appears, but it simply fills the window allotted to it. It might only be a 12% size, but it is not huge. If I choose to zoom to 100%, THEN it gets huge.
Look into some other image editting software if Vintage Music and Mindwalk's suggestions do not help you.
You can get a 30 day free trial of Photoshop Elements 5.0 at http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshope...
Many people use Picasa, although I have not. I don't know how powerful it is, but it's free. Maybe this will work the same way when you open your photos.

And HI THERE VIENNA! Report It
When you connect camera to computer if it's the same software as mine, your photos go to Cyberview and also My Pictures at the same time. In my pictures hit view and then thumbnails. Oh no!
Lets see if we can put this in perspective.. When you take the picture.. you want the highest resolution you can have while maintaining room to store those pictures you want/need.. so if you have tons and tons of space.. max the resolution.. ** greater the resolution the more memory you need to store it ** if you need as many pictures as you can get.. lower the resolution because you'll find you can take a vastly greater number of photo's..
Now.. you have the picture.. you decide that you don't want to reduce the quality of your work.. but rather.. you want to change the view you have of them.. once transferred to The computer.. In other words.. you want to look at the photo's like you've taken a step back.. you can leave the photo's in the folder and click on view at the top and select thumb nail or slide show..
Here's the ketch.. Do you have a program that will allow you to save the image in a smaller resolution? IE. open image with program.. click on file.. slide to save as.. and lower the resolution or size of the photo..
Why? so you can send it via email.. load into profiles.. add to websites..
Sometimes the images are to large ** even if they are really spectacular* to be reasonable.. like the new RV's out there.. great things! but you don't want that on the driveway..
** its' like using duct tape to fix things.. but you can turn the resolution down on the camera when taking photo's to reduce or eliminate the need to reduce it's size when working with emails.. profiles.. or other activities requiring smaller files. **
look into a program if you don't' have one.. ** I'd bet you do it's just a matter of finding it.**
Hope that Helps!!! Download a free program called Irfanview (www.irfanview.com).
It lets you resize pics (and do a bunch of other useful things) without having to get a PhD or buy expensive software.
Hope this helps. |
