Anyone ever eaten a REALLY hot pepper?

I just had lunch at the Mushu Grill with my Dad and in my lunch there was a small red pepper. I ate it, chewed it, popped out the seeds, chewed those and was about to swallow when.... BAM!!! Flaming ball of hell fire in my mouth! It was red hot and I started to gasp for air while my Dad reached for his camera phone. I then drank gulps of soda (Mug Root Beer) to calm the flame, only to realize that it made it worse! I exhaled alot to bring in air flow and at once it felt as though I was breathing fire. I left just a few minutes ago and i am now typeing this question with burning lips and a flaming throat. Has anyone else shared this awesome experiance? Was it a dare? Just for fun? Did you know (I did)? What did I eat?
And by the way, I LOVE hot stuff, spicy food and hot peppers I can munch on.

My husband used to eat habenero peppers like candy. He LOVED hot food. But you gotta take it slow and build up an immunity to it. the seeds and ribs are the hottest part. Those tiny peppers were probably an Asian type comparable to the habenero. I have heard they have one that is and it's tiny and red so that is probably what you had.

My husband loved hot sauce that I made for him. The first time I made it, I didn't wear gloves and my hands burned for about 3 days afterward. After that I was sure to wear gloves when I cut up the peppers. It included habenero and all the other types of peppers I could find. We called it "Fireball Express". You could barely stand to be in the house when it was cooking because the air was so filled with "hotness". No one could eat more that about a tablespoon of it at one time.

To get rid of the capsacaisin oil you should drink milk, not water or soda, and put a piece of white bread in your mouth and hold it to let the oil absorb into it from your mouth and then don't eat it. Take it out and throw it away. As you found out, water or soda will just make it worse. It's oil and oil and water don't mix.

Be prepared for a hot time at the old toilet too when it comes out the other end. It burns both ways. :-)

I made chilli once and put habenero pepper in it. Fire in the hole!!
For those who are tempted to try such an experience, do NOT try to flush with liquid of any sort afterwards. It actually makes things worse because the oil that these hot peppers contain is just swished around by the liquid. The best way to calm the heat is with bread.

Thai chili peppers are heard to be the hottest. Boonie peppers on Guam are extrememly hot too.

Next time, try sprinkling som granulated sugar on your tongue to reduce the heat.

Yes... strangely enough, purple peppers are way hotter than red and green peppers! It was not a dare, I love spicy foods! I knew it was going to be hot, but not that hot!

The heat in peppers is caused by the naturally occurring chemical "capsaicin", which can be either mild or as you unfortunately found out, scorching hot......

There is a unit of heat measurement, and it's known as the Seville Unit of heat.......Green bell peppers have a Scoville rating of about 0-10..............

On the other end of the scale, there's the infamous Scotch Bonnet on Habernero pepper, which is the hottest on the Scoville unit scale, with a rating of (get this) 500,000 +........

I am such ababy when it comes to HOT stuff and probably would have been crying and thinking I was going to die if I just had your experience. For me, the mild souace that they put in the food at Del Taco and Taco Bell is HOT - so anything hotter than that would probably make me wish I was dead.

You're a stronger perosn than I am - or you don't have anymore feeling on your tongue from eating so much hot stuff.

I love eating hot peppers, but i can't stand the heat very much.
However, the hotness of the pepper does not always compare with the amount that you eat.

One time, when i was eating pizza, i put some hot pepper flakes on my pizza. No big deal, right Hot pepper flakes are NOTHING. Well, seeing as how it grosses my brother out, I put on more. And More. Finally, I had used about a 4th of the container, about a 3rd cup. I ate the pizza.

My mouth BURNED for the next hour. It was funny, and painful, and really really funny. Nothing helped. Nothing at all. And breathing does feel like you're a dragon when you're mouth is that hot.

But, I've learned something.
As fun as it is to eat the pepper yourself, it's even more fun when YOU watch someone else eat the pepper.
