Is it wrong to talk crap behind your managers back? |
Yeah, I work at a fast food place. I have only been there for a yr (1st job) and seen about 9 ppl quit mainly because of the management. (that is a lot because our store is small) Boss is good and an respected man at work but he wont fire his lazy loyal manager of almost 8 yrs. Just today my coworker told me the manager knows we call her a b--- which I thought it was funny cuz half of employees dont like her and everyone thinks shes very annoying and RUDE. I dont know whether she was surprised or not but yeah we think the boss told her because our store just remodeled a few months back and our camera now have sounds so they can listen to our convos. My question is .. is it really bad and unprofessonal of us? I cant help but express how I feel towards her. xD naahh its ok, managers always bring out the worst in everyone !!! Wow ! Is it even legal to install cameras with sound ? Here in NY you can't, at least not for a restaurant business. It is not only wrong but also unethical. It doesn't matter what everyone else does or how mean your manager is, if you have a problem with her, isn't it much easier to call her in private or in her office to speak to her ? To engage in "gossip and rumors" at work, is very "low" and you just never know, how that "gossiping" stuff can turn "against you". Good luck ! that kind of shyt happens everywhere. if you and all your co-wokers cant stand her, the whole restaurant should go to your boss and have a lil discussion. Dont ever give a 'suggestion' to your boss to fire her as this will make you look like the bad person, and not her. she'll act really innocent and say "what? what did i ever done wrong? i've been working here for 8 years and is this how you're thanking me for making this place a great dining place?" and your boss would definately buy that. Everyone bad mouths their manager :) Yeah, you won't get far in that job acting like that. not at all...in fact i encourage that kind of behavior! depends on what you want to be known as - a back stabbing trash talking insecure brat.... yeah talking trash behind anyone's back is wrong and in the work place highly unprofessional. do ya'll not realize - no matter what you think of this manager she will be the one to fire you or give you a good reference on your next job as i don't think you want to be working the line for all your life. Yes, it's unprofessional. There's no room for deliberately causing dissention in the work place; you're promoting harsh attitudes and hurtful conversation. Obviously, you don't plan to become a manager someday. Also, I guess you wont need to use the manager/job as a work reference in the future. If you want to talk smack about your manager, go ahead. But don't be surprised when they fire you. It's called insubordination, whether it's to her face or not. It doesn't matter how much you dislike her - I don't like my manager either. But I don't say disparaging things about her at work because I don't want to lose the job. I'll put up with her crap. I don't see her that often. |
