Lenses for Canon EOS 30D?


I am wanting to purchase a couple of lenses for a friend's bday. What is a good Macro Lense? Good recommendation for a lense for outdoor sport photography? Thanks!

i have the 100mm macro for my 20D. great macro. i've heard the 60mm macro is good too, but i have no experience with it.

for outdoor sports photos, check out the 70-200 f/4. since you're outside and have some light to work with the f/4 shouldn't be a problem and the price is nice.

Don't take this the wrong way, but the 30D is a serious camera that only shines with serious lenses.
I personally use a Nikon D200, which is in the same league. The cheapest lens I own for my camera is a used 50mm f/1.4, and even that set me back $200.

A quality lens for outdoor sport is even more expensive.
Now, I don't know how good a friend this is, or how serious he/ she is about photography, but you might want to consider other ideas...
macro lens and outdoor sport lens are very different in both performance and price. probably a good macro lens would be the EF 50mm macro. while the good lenses for outdoor photography would range from 200mm to 600mm lens that are very expensive. even the zoom lenses.
I assume you don't want to spend thousands of dollars but if you do.......the best outdoor sports photography lenses are the 400mm f2.8L and the 600 f4L. That'll cost you about $6500..........each. The more affordable version would be the 70-300 IS ($400) or the 100-400L ($1500). There are cheaper versions of these lenses (i.e. not Canon) but they will keep you wishing for more. I shoot surfing, soccer, and more, and in my experience, 200mm is not enough for outdoor sports. As far as macro...... there are a lot of options but almost any lens can be made into macro with relatively cheap extension tubes. Hope this helps.
