Where local little league teams play sports, is this considered public grounds or private grounds?

I am a photographer and want to start doing sports photography but need to know if I go to a local school sporting event. Can I legally photograph the teams playing, and solicit my buisness cards with an event password to a secure site (password protected), and having them online without a contract beacause and if its public ground, can I be punished by the law?

Thanks in advance.
Josh

A ballpark in a town is usually considered public ground, if these where adults playing you would not have a problem. But since these are children and the way the world turns these days with stalkers and stuff. I would not do this without going to a meeting or a place where all the parents could meet and talk to you.

Hope this helps,

i refer to them as sacred grounds
since they are minors you can't. the parents have to sign a permission form and the league has to okay it as well.
I would discuss this with your local law enforcement. Some parents would not like their children being photographed for many many reasons. You may have to get consent from the parents but...yeah...go talk to the local law enforcement. And be cautious of angry parents ;) Good luck!
First, if you were a real photographer with any real experience, you would know the answers to this. Having a camera doesnt make you a photographer worthy of commercial interest.

Charging people for photos to a public, or personal event, wont make you a lot of $$.

You would be better off going to the organizer of the event, and see about setting up a booth for those that want their photos taken.

If its genuinely a public event, you shouldnt have problems taking photos, but so will anyone with a digital camera, cell phone.

Getting in someones face to take a photo wont get you arrested. Beaten maybe, but not arrested.

There are other things you should know, but if you take a basic photo journalism class, or talk to a lawyer, you'll learn more.
