Megapixels required for stock photography?

What is the recommended amount of megapixels require to submit to stock photo sites (including mini stock)

I have a lot of stock shots that were shot with a 6MP sensor on a DSLR. Now I submit images shot with a 10MP sensor on a different DSLR.

The key is this: Resolution, sharpness and great composition of subjects that the stock agency needs.

There are a few steps you need to accomplish before submitting your work

* Write and find out what subjects they are currently looking for.
* Send them Internet ready files (100KB or less) for them to choose from and tell them that you have high resolution TIFF and JPEG's of all you submit.
* Send only your absolute best images. No blur, no images that will have to be "cropped", vertical and horizontals of the same subject and perfectly exposed.

Remember these are stock photos and no one wants to have to use a photo program to "repair" them.

I would say the very minimum you can get away with is 3MP. It varries from site to site. You may want to check some of the sites. Here's a few links to get you started: http://istophoto.googlepages.com/
