Stock photography? PLEASE HELP.? |
I had told somebody that I'm interested in photography. They mentioned stock photography to me. I'm 13 years old, would it be legal for me? And could someone help me understand what stock photography is? Stock photography is a collection of photos that people can buy - usually from a company that deals in selling stock photos. Say a person needs a picture of a cow...no special cow, just an ordinary cow...they could turn to a stock photography company and say, "I need a cow picture." The company would have a variety of cow pictures from different photographers and the person could choose the one that most suits what they want to do. It can be a good way to break into the photography business. As for legal, you may need a parent's permission to sell your photos as a contract may have to be signed and you have to be 18 to do that yourself. People make money taking spectacular images and offer them for sale to other people would like to use them as images in part of their promotional pieces, flyers, etc. Paying for the image pays back the host company, the photographer, and gives the user permission to use as they see fit.
