Suggestions for a decent camera for middle aged parents?

Looking to purchase Digital camera for Christmas gift for parents. Needs to be EASY TO USE with few tiny buttons and a fairly large screen. Any suggestions?

Before you rush out and buy your folks a digital camera, you should consider how pc literate they are. If they aren't the PC type then a digital camera might not be a good choice. Also, is their PC up to the job or will they need to spend more money on their PC to get results?

There are still a lot of great 35mm point and shooters out there at good prices. A low end 35mm SLR might also be a good choice.

If digital it must be, I'd stick to Kodak - the tried and true. Kodak's EasyShare software is very easy to use and most folks would have no problems using it. The cameras are straight forward and provide great images.

Canon Ixus 60 or one of the other Ixus series, pretty basic to use, looks gorgeous, which is probably something they will appreciate seeing as they presumably don't care that much about the features, and technically it is meant to be good (the photos it takes seem pretty nice to me).

dont really remember the model no but its sony 5.1 megapixel camera only single coloured(black) price nearly around10000(in indian rupees) i think it is the best one

Review your options on http://www.cnet.com

I'd recomment two comanies (the model will be up to you):

1) Kodak: very very very easy to use. Almost dummy proof. However, I think their software is so easy that it's almost annoying... If you try to do very simple stuff that is not part of their software, you may get frustrated...

2) Canon: always a sure bet! Excellent image quality. The cameras have a bit more knobs than Kodak, but if you want to have a camera that will allow you to explore more features, Canons are excellent.

canon powershot. they come in with different feature depending on what you want to spend , but they all have pretty big screens which aging adults like. I reccomend the sd series

canon sd400-600.

they are the best cameras with nice big screens.
