What do You Use To Record Videos On Youtube???

How do people record like clips of a dvd or music videos to put up on youtube?? Do you use a camcorder,digital camera,or decrypt the dvd or something?? Ive tried using a digital camera (6 different ones actually) but the sound comes out awful and distant and the picture comes out barely watchable.So any suggestions??

try using your webcam and uploading directly onto youtube. but with the equipment the general public has you cant except to get great quality
