Can you use a 1 GB memory card in a camera that says up to 512 mb?

I bought a digital camera (alos video and MP3) on Ebay - a Vu-Point. It says use up to a 512 MB card. What will happen if I use a 1 or 2 GB ( SD card)

I've never had this problem with a still camera, but I did with a camcorder. It was given to me for Christmas, along with a 2 GB memory card. It wouldn't work and the manual was no help. I called Canon and, with some effort, discovered that the camcorder was only tested with cards up to 512 MB. I bought a new card and it worked fine.

First make sure it would even fit! (size-wise) mb and GB are different measures. 1024 kb = 1 mb, 1024 mb= 1 GB...

Wouldnt hurt to try, but I wouldn't expect it to. The actual size of the memory cards are the same.

it either won't work
or it will only use half the card

Its the amount of memory your card has !
That is a good one to have....
