I am going on a trip to India and I dont want to take my digital camera just in case I lose it, so my question is for a trip like India a place i will probably never go agian..what type of digital camera should i take, like what speed? and once you take the pictures what do you do? is the film included in the camera? and do you leave it in the camera? i have never used one before and i want to make sure that i know exactly what i should be doing before its to late and all my pictures turn out horrible. Thanks

If you take disposable cameras, you have to develop the films. The films are in the camera and you bring the camera to a photo store. They take out the film in dark room and dispose the camera (body). How many disposable cameras are you going to buy? It depends how long you are going to stay in India. You will miss shots because you want to save film. If you want to bring the exposed films home, you will run into the danger of exposing film to x-ray at airports. The films have to be on carry on bags because the radiation is small compared to x-ray for checked bags. Films higher than 400 ISO are suspectible to X-ray damage through airport walking security checks.

I would advise you to take a small portable digital camera which costs $250-$350* with 1 or 2 giga pixels memory card.
When you fill up your card, you can go to local photo shop in the city and so that they burn you a CD or DVD. I have been in Taiwan and I did the same thing. Now I carry photo storage media. Carry the camera with a pouch which fastens to waist belt

* Price is a suggestion and you could spend less depending your budget. You could take your own digital camera.
Choose 5 mega pixels with 4X Optical zoom.

Note: If you buy a new camera, make sure you buy it at least a week before your departure. Familiarize with the camera ad take a lot of pictures. Carry the user manual with you.

Good luck

Firstly they are not *digital* and yes disposable cameras do include the film (assuming this is what you mean). To have it developed you turn in the entire camera. Disposable cameras come preloaded with different film speeds depending on what type shots you will be taking (outdoor, indoor, etc). They are rather cheap so you will need several.

Here are a few tips for using disposable cameras:

1. Focus range for a disposable camera is 4 -12 feet from the subject.

2. Use Disposable Cameras loaded with 400 speed film for indoor use.

3. When using flash on a disposable camera, stand no further than 10 feet for the subject.

4. When using flash make sure the red indicator light on the top or side of the disposable camera is fully lit.

5. Disposable Cameras are good a few months after the expiration date on the camera.

6. Disposable Cameras loaded with 400 speed film is better for indoor pictures than cameras loaded with 200 speed film.

I would take your digital camera with you. You will regret it later. Just keep the camera with you at all times and you shouldn't loose it.
