How does the macro setting on a camera work? |
I don't know what Macro is on my digital camera? What is it used for? What is the purpose of it? Is it good for night photos?? Macro is a setting used to focus really close to something (2-24inches) like a flower petal or a bug or something. This is a horrible setting for night use because of how close you have to be to focus to the objest. not enought light will reach the image recording device. It's used for shooting closeups as close to 1:1 magnification as is possible given the minimum focusing distance of the lens. It can be good for night photos, if the camera sets the widest aperture, but you'll still need a tripod, and sometimes you don't always want the widest aperture, especially when focusing to infinity, you'll usually have to stop down to f/11 and use a long shutter. My best recommendation is to use the night mode, if you're camera has one, instead of the closeup mode due to the depth of field requirements when focusing to infinity. Take at least one class in photography. This question and many more will be answered after just one class. |
