(to upload to You Tube) your camera should have came with a program to do that, mine did. but the videos are such huge files i wasnt able to upload them anyway. You need a couple of things...
1. If your computer doesn't have a firewire input, you can get a PCI firewire card. This goes directly into one of the PCI slots on your computer and will have a firewire input. As an addendum, firewire is just a term for a high band digital cable.
2. Second, you would need a firewire cable. Both of these things together shouldn't run you more than 50 dollars.
3. You need to have software that "captures" the digital video format. Free software is offered from Microsoft under the name Windows Movie Maker. Search for it on download.com and you should be able to download it.
You're all set! I got a Pinnacle Systems - Dazzle Digital Video Creator from BestBuy. It lets you transfer any type of video (VHS included) to your computer for digital storage.
You can then store video on flash, hard-drive, or DVD if you have a burner.
Costs about $80-$100 First off, it is already in digital format... DV stands for Digital Video. I suspect you are talking more about how to download it into your computer to compress it. Then uploading the compressed file somewhere on the Internet to show to people.
The download step all depends on what type of connection the DV camera has on it. Most DV have either Firewire or USB connection. Your computer will need to be compatable with this type of connection [most computers have USB but not all have a firewire connection]. If your computer does not have an appropriate port, you will need to solve that issue first.
Next your computer will need to have some type of editing software in it. IF it is a MAC or Windows XP, you already have a program to use -- Windows XP [under accessories] is "Windows Movie Maker" -- This will allow you to import the movie from your camera into the computer and edit it.
Once you edit it, you will then need to render or compress it -- there are a number of significnant issues here and I suggest you read the help under the program you use.
That is the broad outline for what you need to do to upload it to You Tube. Good Luck. |
