Is the photo quality of a picture from a camera phone usually good?

I don't own a digital camera so I whenever I want to take a picture I just use my camera phone. When you have a picture from a phone processed at the 1-hour photo do they trun out just as good as pictures from a digital camera?

It depends on the resolution of the camera and the phone.

The best resolution that you will probably find on a camera phone is 1.3 megapixels (megapixels is a measurement of resolution).

The higher the megapixels, the better the image quality. If you wanted to get 4x6 prints, a camera phone would be ok if you are not picky (assuming it is a 1.3 megapixel camera phone), but 4 megapixels or greater is what is recommended for quality 4x6 pictures.

If you wanted to print an 8x10, you would need at least a 6 megapixel camera for a decent picture. Check out the link below for more information on digital cameras.

The Nokia 6265i has a 2 mega pixel. Camera takes great shots in good light. Will take photos in low light but quality is not that great, but for low light maybe not as bad as it could be. I really like the phone overall. Report It

The nokia 6265i even has a mini SD slot so you can take your photos out of the camera to print them if you don鈥檛 have a cable or a Bluetooth connection to your PC. Report It

I've used mine in a pinch to take new student's pictures for school field trip nametags/emergency tags, sent them to my computer & printed them up real quick. Report It

I have a Cincular Sync phone and it also has a 2.0 megapixel camera. It's great in most cases. On the other hand, we just bought one at Best Buy that is 6.4 megapixels, and I'm betting we'll find that's really the bomb! Report It

you can make acceptable 8x10 photos with a 2MP camera, and very good ones with 3MP. i have made stunning 11x14 prints with a 5MP camera, so obviously, you do NOT need a 6MP camera for 8x10's, as lcamccandlj suggested. a 1.3 MP camera should be adequate for 4x6 prints. Report It

Unless you have a camera phone with a 1.3 MegaPixel resolution or better, you will be "okay". Many phones use a resolution of 640 x 480. Those pictures are usually slightly blurry, contrast is poor, slightly out of focus, etc., etc. My next camera phone will be AT LEAST a 1.3 MegaPixel. Report It

No. NO NO NO! The answer is totally and amazingly wrong. The megapixel rating has nothing to do with the quality of a picture. The lens of a camera and the quality of the sensor will determine if a picture is good. The MP rating is the size of the picture in pixels. Report It

no, at the present moment a camera phone is a camera phone and a camera is a camera. your camera phone will not be able to take nearly the same quality pictures as present day compact/dslr or really any other quality camera on the market. Report It

actually, the MP rating has a LOT to do with the quality of a picture. if there are not enough pixels to yield at least 150-200 pixels per inch in the print, the print will look poor. fortunately, even a 1.3MP camera provides enough pixels for a decent 4x6 print. Report It

More MP is nice but is not the main factor in image quality. Optics are . Llots of low end snapshot digital cameras w/more than 6 mega-pixels and cost a couple $100. Pro SLR's will blow these out of the water
Doubt if any cameraphone records more than 72DPI.

A phone is for having conversations on.A CAMERA is for taking pictures with.Neither do the job the other is designed to do nearly as well as a job specific version will. When was the last time you tried to call somebody on a camera?Idiots! Report It

i have the samsung a900 1.3mp camphone.. works great. you can check some photos here... flickr.com/hzeat there are higher mp cells coming out as well. i've got my eye on the nokia n95. Report It

i have a sony ericsson k800i 3.2MP and pics are great, 2048x1536. People should look at phones for around the world. Phones in the U.S. suck. my gf sony k750i has 2MP.
The new sony phone with "k" have the cybershot interface, http://www.flickr.com/photos/9... all pics from my k800i Report It

It depends on the quality of the phone camera..

my camera phone is crap...i have a motorola ... i don't know about all camera phones, but i think you get better quality from digital cameras than you would a camera phone anyday. however, i would suggest you buy a one time use digital camera ... i just recently found out about these @ a CVS pharamcy store, they're 12.99 which isn't too bad. the website actually says 19.99 but i thought i really saw it at 12.99. It might be a little more pricey because it does not include processing, however i think that the prints would be better than prints you would get from a camera phone.

This is a great thing for people who don't own a digital camera and don't want to purchase one.

I have a samsung a640 camera phone and the pics are garbage, but i didn't buy it for the camera. it's a 0.3 mega pixel, or 640x480. multiply the numbers and you get the total # of pixels. the only thing the pic are good for is making screen savers. if I print the pictures I can see the pixels.

my boyfriend has a samsung a900, I think it's a 2.0 mega pixel and has a flash. the pic quality is better and can make decent 4x6's.

there good for those "I wish I had a camera" moments, but I recommend buying a dig camera

It depends on the quality of the camera

Short: No, not yet.
it is about resolution (how many megapixels - 5 Megapixels is good) and lens.

Photos from a phone camera are ok.

When you have a picture from a phone processed at the 1-hour photo do they turn out just as good as pictures from a digital camera?

NOPE... at least not yet

it really depends on the size of the picture. 2x3 to 3x5 you might get away with it but 5x7 onwards you will see the difference.

Because of several reasons such as lens quality, sensor size and type, and compression of the file.

I have always been a lazy butt in bringing my SLR around if it wasn't for work. So I have been testing different phone cameras just to see what model would make good images.

Phone cameras tested

SE P800
SE K700
SE K750i Ok at 3x5
SE P990i acceptable at 5x7
N 6101
N 6260
N N93 Good at 5x7
Motorola Razr Vx

I have printed several pictures using these phones to test the image quality. Only the following would "pass" in terms of sharpness and color quality SE K700 at 3x5, SE K750i at 4x5, P990i at 5x7. N93 at 5x7 good. at 8x10 there is color shifting and ghosting.

I currently use a N93, its images are not as "great" as they advertised, but the video is the best. I even connected it to a 32" flat screen TV and the video was great! including the sound considering the fact that its just a cell phone.

Hope this helps

Ciao

Most of the pictures taken with camrea phones isn't that good. there are only a few phones with good camrea lens.

Yes ..It is Based on the Phone Model

Check if it is more than 3.2 Mega Pixel then it is Ok.
But Mostly you don't have Zoom function in handphone,It is Zoom then it is Good,Zoom should be atleast 3x Optical zoom.
Finally memory should be atlest 32MB is better 16MB also ok.

it depends on what brand the camera phone is
