Is it ok that my digital camera came without a charger/ adapter?

I have the USB and AV cables, but not a charger. It isnt listed under the "contents" on the box it came in, so I dont think it's missing, but someone said that its odd to not come with one. The instruction book says to use an adapter if I'll have the screen on for a while. How do I know what kind of adapter I'll need?

Its a SANYO VPC 503 and it came from Wal Mart

That totally depends on if your battery is a rechargable battery pack, or if it takes regular AA's or AAA's.

If you have a battery pack, I suggest doing a search for a charger. Check ebay, or the camera company's website for the original charger. Check the camera's info that (hopefully!) came with your camera, to see if it has documents with info on accessories. Usually most expensive items (especially eletronics) come with a list of crap you can get to go with your new item. They just want you to buy more and more from them, and that's why they told you to use one in the instruction manual.

If it takes regular AA/AAA's, then you may be stuck using the heck out of your batteries. The only other option would be to use a specific kind of rechargables that can be recharged directly IN your camera. (I've has an mp3 player that was that way, but the batteries didn't last very long though.) My best suggestion to you if your camera does take AA/AAA's is to invest in some high powered rechargables made for electronics like cameras, and a seperate (or packaged together) charger, and possibly twice as many batteries as your camera takes, so you always have a spare set on you, or charging.

I hope you enjoy your new purchase! Digi-cameras are sooo much FUN!!!!
;o)

If it uses AA batteries it wouldn't come with a charger. If it has rechargeable batteries it should so check the listed contents and contact the store or manufacturer if it was missing (they probably won't believe you though).

Based on the additional info you provided, I verified it takes AA batteries. There is no need for a charger, just carry extra AA battaries with you.

Does it use regular (e.g., AA) batteries?

I've purchased more than my fair share of digital cameras, not one came with an adapter or charger.

well if its a digital camera, I got one from cannon and I didn't recieve any charger. But if its a camcorder i'm not sure. You should try and call technical support and they could tell you easily. But a regular digital camera I don't think would come with a charger.

you can charge with the USB cable, but unless its a camera with regular (not rechargeable) batteries then it is odd that it doesn't come with one...

er.. OF COURSE IT IS WEIRD. how are you to charge your camera? and batteries DO run dry.

can i know the model? did you get it from a legal shop?

TAKE THE CAMERA AND ALL OF YOUR PAPERS YOU GOT WITH IT AND GO TO THE STORE TO BUY THE ADAPTER. THAT WAY THEY CAN TELL YOU WHICH ONES WILL WORK BEST FOR YOUR CAMERA.

Hmph - your camera may charge via the USB cable - but most have an adaptor for the whole charging thing...

You should be able to simply get a charger via the web or just knowing to camera model and going into an electronics store.

Regardless - they're fun toys...

it just depends...
I have 2 digicams, different models
1. HP with charger - uses rechargeable or AA
2. HP without charger - uses only AA

If the box doesn't say so, then it's not supposed to be included.

Mine didn't have either and it works just fine.

It uses "AA" batteries and the charger is extra, since not everyone wants to use rechargeable batteries. Buy any charger that you like with 4 batteries for about $20.

Do you have an optical viewfinder? Turn off the monitor and use it if you do. LCD monitors are battery hungry devices. The longer you leave it on, the quicker the batteries will drain. If you MUST use it, set it to turn off after the minimum time offered, such as 5 or 10 seconds. Don't spend too much time reviewing your pictures on your camera. Save that for the computer when you can use a card reader and not drain your camera batteries.
