Digital camera recommendations?

Wanted to spend around $200 (or less). Just using for family pictures, vacations, etc. A friend mentioned something about at least 6 mp???? Any brand you recommend, Sony, Kodak, etc. Any help would be great! Thank you!!

I think the best deal of the year is the Canon Powershot A530.

Many stores have the A540 for $170. Add a decent memory card and you're still under budget.

I've always had really good results with Canon cameras, even low MP ones. I think the sensors in them are better than a lot of cameras, so in auto mode your point and shoot pictures come out better than with some other brands. The number of pixels isn't everything!

American Digital Cameras lag behind Japanese cameras in many ways and Japanese lag behind in American cameras in different ways. I still would recommond a Japanese camera over a American camera just because Japanese camera companies have a generally good history of quality unlike American companies. Kodak really lags behind in quality and style. Sony is a good choice but they are not the best cameras at that low of a price range. The Canon A630 is a great camera. I have its lil brother that takes excellent pictures in both day light and dark pictures. (The noise or grain on pictures are acutally pretty decent for a camera that cheap)
