How to format my SD card to work in my camera? |
I just bought a 4 GB SD card to use in my digital camera, but when I put it in the camera, it says 'unable to format'. I've tried to format it from my PC, but the only option I have is to format it to FAT32 and that doesn't work in the camera, either (and I don't know what that even means!) I've tried the HP website, and the card manufacturer's website (Puremedia) and there aren't any links.... It's a HP Photosmart M525 Yup sadly that camera only supports cards up to 2GB. It comes down to the number of memory spaces the camera can address. Camera chips were made to go to a maximum of 2GB before such large cards were invented. Now because cards are bigger, the camera has to be able to address more memory spaces. If your camera can't do that, the camera is said not to be SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) compatible. Are you sure your camera is capable of using such a large card - most only go to 2Gb - send me the model and I will be able to confirm this for you Go to your local walgreens and they can help for free bring your camera and the SD card to the shop where you make the purchase, maybe the camera don't support. That camera only works on a card up to 2gig. First ansa's probably correct. 4GB is really huge. Maybe the camera doesn't support this size. camera doesn't support this size. it is too big for the camera |
